On September 1, an ethnographic class was opened in the village of Khabez in the Karachay-Circassian Republic, which will be attended by children interested in in-depth study of the Circassian language and culture, – Information Agency Ria Karachay-Circassia reports.
“I was hatching the idea of creating an ethnographic class for a long time, then I firmly decided to take up this project and presented my idea to the Association of Teachers of the Circassian Language and Literature named after Kazi Atazhukin. Colleagues approved my idea, and we went further, to the administration of the village, where we were also supported. Later we held a parents’ meeting, where we decided questions about the hourly workload and the new school uniform. It was decided to sew national costumes for the ethnographic class,” Head of the Association Rasiyat Cherkasova said.
She also added that in addition to the hours allocated to their native languages, the children will be additionally engaged in order to gain in-depth knowledge of the culture and language of the Circassian (Adyghe) people.
